Rona can't ferret out all the action by herself, so send me an email @ ronatheferret@hotmail.com and give me the dirt, but leave the mud behind.

Yippee!! Wahoo!!
The drive-thru is dead!
The drive-thru is dead!

Over the weekend of June 25th, 2005, All- Com Realty put up a "for lease" sign on the empty (for at least five years) storefront next to McDonalds at St. Clair & Christie. This must mean the fight has been won by the neighbourhood. Congrats again to all those stalwart folks who spent a lot of time , energy and money to keep the "hood" neighbourly.

Now, let's hope that we get something really nice like a cool Indian restaurant. Rona has also heard a plea for a good fish & chip shop. Please, Mr. Landlord, no more check-cashing places or massage parlors!

Patio Time!

How hard is it to get a patio on St. Clair Ave? Depends where you have your business. "Good Ole" Joe (Mihevic, councilor - St. Paul's), gets a patio in no time, well, after the (almost) civil servants lose all your paperwork once or twice.

"No-ROW" Cesar (Palacio, councilor - Davenport) maybe yes, maybe no. Especially a side patio. Especially for a new owner of an established business that was a might troublesome to the area (read residents) at one time. There are at least four side patios in the Dufferin to Lansdowne area, but those were allowed a long time ago. Ah youth, the Jolly Italian patio, Café Romeo, lots of latte macchiatos were drunk there.

Word is that a new business or two, on St. Clair near Christie, are going to try for the elusive side patio. Rona's gonna keep her beady little eyes on this to see how fast these patios go thru.

Going, Going, Gone.

Heard this:
closed

Noche Caliente @ Arlington. Is the building sold, for sale, what ?? Word to the wise, have deep pockets for repairs.

The Forum Café @ Dufferin. Does the name Pizza Pizza mean anything?

Harvey's Department Store @ Oakwood. Has he really closed this time?

Elina's Knish Restaurant @ Crang. So sorry, never even got there.

Violet's Café & Restaurant @ Humewood. Can anybody say Sunset Grille?

Hope Springs Eternal

Heard this: new

Internet café @ Appleton, former site of Forum Menswear. Across from a school, better than a video arcade. (Oops, Rona is showing her age.)

New Ferro café @ Rushton. They're taking their time to construct a marvel & all of yuppiedom is panting in anticipation.

New owners of the former Circle B, now Real Carribbean, looks like good food & poetry and spoken word recitals. (Rona loves words.)

Sketchley Cleaners @ Bathurst has moved to another storefront in preparation of the TD Canada Trust's move from across the street. Condo, Condo, Construction! Dirt! Aggravation! Road Closures?
