STOP,
GO. STOP, GO. STOP, GO.
Rona
is sooo confused. She heard that SAVE OUR ST.
CLAIR had gotten a temporary injunction to stop
the streetcar construction. The injunction was
supposed to last until S.O.S. had testified
at a court hearing in October. They are claiming
that the TTC had only done one environmental
study when they were required to do four. Well,
Rona’s beady little eyes spied the TTC digging
up St. Clair at Yonge during the week of Sept.
19, 2005. And then her fave morning show, City
TV- Breakfast TV announced that the entire intersection
would be closed for a day or two for the construction
of the streetcar tracks. It is still closed
and the buses are diverting to Davisville Station.
Turns out that repairs to the tracks are still
on going, just the right of way is on hold.
So, stop, no, go, no, stop no, go…
GETTING GUSSIED UP
Rona has seen a lot of buildings getting new
facades done over the summer. Must have something
to do with the City handing out cash to owners
who do some fixing up. Looks good, mostly in
the Corso Italia ( Dufferin & St. Clair area).
It would be nice if the City handed out cash
to building owners to put good tenants in their
buildings, other than massage parlours and cheque
cashing joints.
ARTWALK
Lots of musicians playing around the locals,
lots of artists showing their work in odd and
various businesses, some residents turning out
to see both. Artwalk is not listed in the ArtsWeek
program from City Hall and there doesn’t seem
to be much media coverage. The more media that
shows, the better the attendance, cuz some people
will only come out if they read it in the paper.
Other than that, great time and Zemra put on
a fab opening night party and kudos to all the
folk who volunteered for ArtWalk and made everything
happen.
PATIO TIME
Not much happening now, although supposedly
November is a big month for City Council to
approve 2006 Patios. We’ll wait and watch. Remember,
‘ Good Ole Joe” has one point. ‘No- Row ‘ Cesar
no points.
GOING, GOING, GONE
AMUARY CUBAN RESTAURANT @ Wychwood & St. Clair
is gone. Heard the pork sandwiches were not
bad.
Again, is JULIBE@ Vaughan Rd closed or not?
HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL
TIPICO ECUADRANIANO (hope I spelled it right)
is going in where AMUARY CUBAN RESTAURANT was
@ Wychwood and ST.Clair. Since CENTRAL CHINESE,
no one seems to be hanging around.
WINSTON PARK CONDOS are going up somewhere around
Spadina and St. Clair. Are these the same condos
causing the big headaches on Russell Hill Rd?
If not, how many condos can St. Clair handle,
especially big bucks ones?
RONA RIDDLES
Where, oh, where have all the little trees gone?
Loblaws @ Bathurst & St. Clair knows, but they’re
not talking. Every single tree from in front
of both Caban and Loblaws are gone. Rona hasn’t
seen any flyers or announcements in-store to
explain it. Rona understands if the trees were
dying from lack of dirt under them, but couldn’t
Loblaws have tried to save them? It’s pretty
bare over there. Will they replace them as part
of the new streetscape from the DROW? If we
get a new streetscape?
So, the houses beside Oakwood School have been
sold. Who have they been sold to, The City or
someone else? Will it be parking or another
condo?
So, some people want Hydrogen buses on St. Clair,
others are ranting about hiring practices at
City Hall. First, true St. Clairites(?) want
our streetcars, we can live anywhere in Toronto
and have buses.
Second, ya’ll are just now hearing about the
family & friends plan at City Hall? Every been
to a Liberal Party fundraiser? A Conservative
one? An NDP one?
When the mayoralty candidates were running,
backroom folks were so interchangeable, you
needed a chart. All those people live off the
public purse in some form or another, and so
do their spouses, children and friends.
One of the witnesses(?) at the MFP inquiry was
a Mel Lastman election sign erector when he
first started a long, long time ago. Now he
has lots of family in City Hall and the School
Boards and still lots of action (contracts etc)
from City Hall for himself.
Remember, certain NDPers who only paid market
value rent for their subsidized apartment when
the media were informed?
Rona is praying that all this City Hall crap
doesn’t stop the police from investigating the
story of the intimidating cops and towtruck
guys and bikers.
We’ve got everything on St. Clair!
Why don’t you get some?
