Meet Toronto's Next Mayor - er, Cookie
All Candidates Meeting
on St Clair To Include Advance Polling - With A Difference
October 28th - 8:00pm
Joseph J Piccininni Community Centre
==================================================================
Toronto: There's an All Candidates
Meeting with the frontrunners for Toronto's top job that will include an advance
poll with a difference - people will have a chance to listen to the contenders
and then vote with their favourite 'cookie'.
That's right - cookie. Barbara Hall is a Walnut Chocolate Chip, Tom Jakobek
is an Oatmeal Double Raisin, David Miller is a Power Cookie, John Nunziata is
Triple Chocolate Chip while John Tory is Oatmeal Chocolate Chip.
And not only do you get to exercise your civic duty but you also help support
a very worthwhile cause - the Hospital for Sick Children.
The All Candidates Meeting is being held at the Joseph J Piccininni (JJP) Community
Centre on Tuesday October 28th at 8:00 pm and is being organized by the St Clair
West Revitalization Committee (SWRC) and the JJP Advisory Council.
The advance poll is being conducted by World Class Bakers, a favourite spot
for pastry and coffee located at St Clair West and Christie - and MyStClair.com,
a community-based website.
"Each of the cookies was personally selected by each of the candidates,"
states John Pampas of World Class Bakers, "We've been running our Cookies
for Kids event at the bakery for a few weeks now and people really seem to enjoy
it - so If you can't make the meeting you can still drop by our place and cast
your vote. Our polls are open everyday until 11:00 pm."
"When I saw what John was doing at his bakery cafe, it seemed like a good
idea to bring it to the All Candidates Meeting," says Tony Bolla, the principal
behind MyStClair.com. "There are a lot of serious issues effecting the
communities of St Clair and this was an opportunity to add a little bit of fun.
And it's for a real good cause."
"That's right', adds John, "So vote early and vote often."
World Class Bakers, located at 690 St Clair Avenue West at the Christie intersection,
offers a range of delicious pastries and a great place to discuss local politics
over a cookie and a coffee. The Cookies for Kids fundraising promotion for the
Hospital For Sick Children is on everyday until the election - and they are
open to 11:00 pm every night.
MyStClair.com is a community-based website that provides information on a range
of community concerns, including plans for the St Clair streetcar and the Wychwood
