DISERO
SUCCESSOR TO BE APPOINTED
From Toronto Star
The vacancy created by former councillor Betty Disero's sudden resignation
last month will be filled by appointment.
Potential candidates to fill the Ward 17, Davenport seat will appear
before the Humber York community council on May 6, and the community
council will make its pick.
Then at a special meeting of council on May 22, councillors will
choose Disero's successor.
Council went the appointment route just last month when Laura Jones
was selected to replace Jack Layton, who became federal NDP leader.
The decision was a nail-biter because council was tied. Jones won
when her name was picked out of a hat, beating former councillor
Tom Clifford. |
