Toronto Police Chief Julian Fantino now bears
another title of distinction - honorary 'King
of the Hill'.
The
Chief was on St Clair to join the crowds of
people enjoying the food, fun and music at
this weekend's Corso Italia Fiesta.
The
brief ceremony, organized by the St Clair
Coronation Committee, was conducted by local
Councillor Cesar Palacio, newly elected federal
Liberal MP Mario Silva and MyStClair's own
Tony Bolla.
It
began with the reciting of a declaration which
stated in part 'For having successfully negotiated
the Hill which once formed the shore of ancient
Lake Iroquois and thereby coming upon our
great Avenue..."
The
Chief was then presented with a small Italian
flag. In this way, he not only recieved the
title of honorary 'King of the Hill' but now
has the distinction of being the first person
to have been officially 'flagged on St Clair'.
The
crowds at the Toronto Fiesta thronged to meet
the Chief and have their picture taken. He
is clearly very much admired in this community
The
Fiesta itself was a real big big hit - even
with all the other events going on around
the City, including the Toronto Street Festival
along Yonge Street and of course the Indy,
amongst others.
The
end of the evening saw some people celebrating
their win over Argentina in the Copa America
soccer tournament by waving the Mexican flag
- where else but St Clair.
