Here’s
news from the Deer Park Very Little Theatre, the newest
group on the Toronto community theatre scene.
The Deer Park Very Little Theatre (VLT) was founded in the
year 2000 as part of the community life and outreach of
the Deer Park United Church. Initially, a one act play and
concert was staged which was part of a full day of entertainment
and social activity that also involved a children’s party,
a jazz tea and supper after the performance – all organized
by the VLT.
In
2001, the VLT staged its second production The Gaslight
Follies, an evening of skits and singing.
The
2002 production of The Cratchit’s Christmas marked a significant
leap forward. Auditions were open to Toronto’s theatre community
and John Davies played Scrooge. The production ran for six
performances and was a tremendous success.
The 2003 season had three productions: "SHOWTIME!",
"Cabaret '04" and “The
Pinchpenny Phantom of The Opera”. Pinchpenny was the
first two act musical the VLT had produced and it was a
considerable artistic success.
Noel
Coward & Friends, with a cast of sixteen is our major
production for the coming year.
