and marginalized. Education, advocacy and support are important
components of our services.
Street
Outreach Worker: 20hrs/week at $15.00/hour
Street
Health is seeking a street outreach worker for the AIDS
Prevention and Harm Reduction Outreach program. Primary
responsibilities include street outreach 3-4 times per week
to at risk individuals in the Dundas-Sherbourne area, distribution
of harm reduction supplies, AIDS prevention and harm reduction
education and referrals to appropriate services.
Qualifications:
Familiarity
with issues faced by the homeless/underhoused in the Dundas
Sherbourne area
Knowledge
of current drug use practices and related harm reduction
strategies
Knowledge
of HIV/AIDS prevention strategies
Knowledge
of relevant resources/services in the area
Comfort
with discussing safer sex and safer drug use strategies
A
flexible schedule with the ability to work some days, evenings
and weekends
Ability
to work in a team environment
Personal
experience with homelessness, drug use and/or sex trade
work
