COUNCIL VOTES 26-8 FOR CARBARNS

4 , 2003
On September 22, 2003, the full Toronto City Council held
a debate on the future of the Wychwood Carbarns and decided
to uphold the recommendations made
earlier by the Administrative Council.
The
final vote was 26-8 in favour of having ArtScape,
a non-profit organization, enter into partnership with the
City of Toronto to explore funding possibilities for the
renovation of the site.
Artscape
is to provide a business plan to City Council by December,
2004 showing how the financing of the project will be structured.
In
advance of this crucial session, Friends
of a New Park had provided councillors with the names
and addresses of over 400 local residents who support the
project.
