Editor's Note: As we have stated numerous times, we do not favour any particular outcome with respect to the streetcar - except one. Whatever option is selected and implemented must have been thoroughly considered, the impacts clearly understood, all the communities involved have been properly consulted and found to be clearly acceptable to the community at large.

There are a number of issues impacting the communities of St Clair West and The Ridge at this time - the future of the Wychwood Carbarns, the possibility of Drive-throughs in residential areas, revitalization efforts, the Official Plan and the provincial and municipal elections to name a few. While each of these is important in their own right, there is one issue which interlaces them all in one way or another - the choice that will be made with respect to our streetcar service.

The St Clair streetcar is an important component of our community. Whether we recognize it or not, it and the broad avenue atop the Ridge along which it runs, defines our area in the same way the lake defines the Beaches and the tracks define the Junction. What happens around the corner, every corner for the 6 kilometers from Yonge to Gunn (and possibly beyond) will have a bearing on our lives for many years to come.

It is for these reasons that we so strongly urge everyone to get informed and involved, whatever your stance on the issue.

See you there.
