Creative Workshops

This year ART WALK introduces workshops hosted by professional musicians, performers and visual artists from the area.

The Workshops begin September 22 and run until October 2. Check below for details.

The Nia Dance Technique
Get Fit the Body's Way! Nia is a workout combining movements, concepts & philosophies from Yoga, Martial Arts and Dance. Itıs the unified beat of body, mind and spirit.
Instructors: Mai Duong, Marla Gold, Lainie Magidsohn.

Creat-ed: Art Classes for Kids, Teens and Adults
A unique combination of multi-disciplinary experiences in art-making informed by the instructor's own artistic practices. Classes are fun, motivating and educational.

Get to know your voice through breathing techniques, discovering range limitations & improvising scat singing.

Learn to Play Klezmer Music
Bring instruments. Learn songs and authentic stylistic interpretation. 2 & 1/2 sessions culminate in a short performance, open to the public during the Art Walk.

Instructor: Jonno Lightstone, clarinetist and leader of the Klezmer band "Hu Tsa Tsa" and "The Yiddish Swingtet."

Knitomatic: Learn to Knit
Learn to knit in a relaxed and creative environment. Learn basic stitches & how to apply them in your knitting projects. Beginner/experienced knitters welcome.

Landscapes on Silk
Both beginner & experienced painters will create small landscapes, learn free- hand machine embroidery techniques. Demos and practice.

End Poverty Now
Make a bracelet in support of the "End Poverty Now" campaign and add your name to the website. Making a bracelet may involve beading techniques or simply tying a string around your wrist. Bracelets also available for sale.

Jigsaw Mosaics
Learn the art of mosaics: how to prepare and cut glass & ceramic tiles, river washed stones, pebbles, apply the them to bases & how to finish with grout.

Fabric Fun
Experiment with fabric paints to create swatches of textured, multi-layered fabric. Embellish your finished pieces.

Writing From the Inside Out
We begin with words. Words collect in the blood and bone and can transform our lives. We can string words together to make a world. Through in-class writing exercises Sandra shares some of the techniques she uses to play with words to discover the stories inside her.
