By Schuster Gindin and Elizabeth Cinello

This video docu-tale is about the short, fairytale-like walk between Casa Loma and the city's smallest house - the Nano Castle.

It will be shown in a number of store windows on St Clair Ave as part of the Arts Week events.

A little girl finds a tiny red slipper by Casa Loma. The castle is too big for this little slipper. She embarks on a journey through our neighbourhood to look for the little nano castle where she will be sure to find the matching little slipper. She finds the nano castle, less than 3 meters in width, and a giant 4-meter, red slipper knitted by women in the neighbourhood. Delighted, she enters the house.

As we follow the little girl in search of her slipper, an intertwining story about the builder of Casa Loma, a coniving knight and financier, who controlled the city's electrical supply, and the working men and women who built the houses in our neighbourhood, will be revealed.

This modern fairytale is told like a cable news story and will be shown in September 2003, during Arts Week, on TV monitors in commuinty centers, libraries and in local shops.

Schuster Gindin and Elizabeth Cinello are the makers of York Classico, a video documentary about the home-made wine-making culture. It is currently included in Presenza the first majot national exhibition of heritage and day-to-day lives of Italian Canadians at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec, Quebec from June 13, 2003 - September 6, 2004.
